The wagon ride to the car!
Last Wednesday was Chunky's surgery. I know this post is a little late, but I wanted to make sure I documented it for him. I sooooo wish we lived closer to Riley Hospital. They took every precaution to make sure that this was a good experience. When you enter the hospital, you get one of these neat red wagons. All of the waiting rooms have awesome toys to play with like fisher price houses, race car tracks, and aquariums. When they took him to get his vital signs, they gave him a toy to take home, while in the surgery holding area, they have a huge set of cool videos to watch. They lent him a game boy that he was able to take into surgery and had a huge closet of toys to play with while waiting. They make sure to clean all of the toys between patients. The nurses were awesome, kind, and patient. They gave him some "sleepy" medicine, which helped transition him to surgery and waited until he was asleep to give him his IV. They also kept us informed while waiting, through our cell phones so we could go eat. The worst part of the whole experience was trying to take his temp under his arm. (He thought it was going to be a shot???) Overall, everything was awesome...minimal pain and crying and he is no longer scared of the dentist. Again, I say Riley Rocks!

I'm guessing by the looks of it-you were in the outpatient center...we weren't so lucky-Main Day does not rock-or even roll;-)
Our experience was not so sweet but I am thankful to have it over with and that Owen did so well.
What'd the Chunkster have done?
He had major dental work done...requiring general anesthesia :(
